However, now that the game has ended, the quarterback spoke with reporters on Tuesday and provided some additional information about the shoulder, while also revealing that no surgery is needed to fix anything.
“Time is the best healer,” Maye said. “I definitely just need some time off. It doesn’t need anything to be done (surgically). Just some time away, time to get some rest, some time away from football.”
The incident occurred in the AFC Championship game against the Denver Broncos.
“I feel like my arm was feeling great all year. I don’t think throwing was the (problem) for my arm. I think it was a case of having one hit in the AFC Championship game that was unfortunate. It was unfortunate timing ... the two weeks was great to have off to have a chance to be out there for my guys. You can’t blame things on injuries.
“Things like this happen all the time in the league. I was blessed this year with health ... just one little thing on the shoulder.”
As for whether the injury held him back in the game, Maye refused to use that as an excuse.
“I was feeling like I was able to make throws during the game and was myself,” Maye said. “So, I don’t have much else to say about that.”
