South Carolina women's basketball is the No. 3 overall team in the NCAA Tournament committee's first in-season reveal of the top 16 seeds.

The reveal came out shortly before a critical game for the SEC as the No. 3 Gamecocks (24-2, 10-1 SEC) and the No. 6 LSU Tigers (22-3, 8-3) are playing on Feb. 14 (8:30 p.m. ET, ABC) at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

The four No. 1 seeds are UConn, UCLA, South Carolina and Vanderbilt.

There'll be one more top 16 release on March 1 as the regular season comes to an end. The official bracket will be revealed on Selection Sunday on March 15.

The two regionals for the 2026 NCAA tournament are in Sacramento, California, and Fort Worth, Texas, with the Final Four and title game in Phoenix, Arizona.

South Carolina is in the Fort Worth Region in the first bracket release.

Last year, South Carolina and coach Dawn Staley were the No. 2 overall seed but a one-seed in its bracket, ultimately winning everything until the national championship game where it lost to UConn.

Staley has three national championships and is hoping to make a sixth straight Final Four appearance this season, which would also be her eighth in the last 11 seasons.
