Germany went close to netting a third soon after the restart with Said El Mala flashing a shot wide from outside the box before substitute Mert Komur rattled the crossbar with a curling strike.
Eoin Kenny then spurned a great chance to pull a goal back for Northern Ireland on 54 minutes when he blazed over after meeting Jonny Russell's cutback.
