Projecting the first rounds in the 2026 and 2027 NFL Draft

· Yahoo Sports

Things are going to get crazy, and I have to be honest, I am excited for this one.

Visit esporist.com for more information.

It occurred to me that I had never seen a two-round mock draft where one round is the first round of one class and the second round is that of another. So we did just that. This will be a first-round mock draft for the 2026 NFL Draft, and from those picks, we will use that to decide who the teams select with their first-round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft.

This will have an analysis of one player from each team's class, and they will be organized by division. Also, the order for 2027 will be decided based upon Super Bowl odds as they stood on April 4 when the selections were made.

With that stage set, enjoy this unique exercise of ours.

AFC North

Baltimore Ravens

  • 2026 First-Round Pick: Kenyon Sadiq, TE, Oregon
  • 2027 First-Round Pick (Projected 29th Overall): Kewan Lacy, RB, Ole Miss

Player Profile: Kewan Lacy, RB, Ole Miss

Lacy was one of the more electric players in the entirety of college football in 2025. He was a pivotal part of the Ole Miss offense and was a big reason they had the season they had when Trinidad Chambliss stepped up due to injury as the starter. He can find running lanes, catch passes, and most importantly, he finishes runs the way the Ravens like with Derrick Henry at the moment.

Cincinnati Bengals

  • 2026 First-Round Pick: Dillon Thieneman, S, Oregon
  • 2027 First-Round Pick (Projected 16th Overall): A’mauri Washington, DL, Oregon

Player Profile: Dillon Thieneman, S, Oregon

The Bengals defense thrived when they had the likes of Jessie Bates patrolling the back end of their defense. When he left in free agency, they attempted to replace him, but they missed on that front. Thieneman is an athletic freak who can cover both the run and pass game for them as they look to build a defense that can match their offense.

Cleveland Browns

  • 2026 First-Round Pick: Monroe Feeling, OT, Georgia
  • 2026 First-Round Pick (via JAX): Omar Cooper Jr., WR, Indiana
  • 2027 First-Round Pick (Projected 4th Overall): Julian Sayin, QB, Ohio State

Player Profile: Julian Sayin, QB, Ohio State

The Browns are giving Shedeur Sanders a chance in 2026, but let's pretend that doesn't go well. Sayin has the tools, both physical and mental, to help this roster perhaps finally find their peace and take the next step needed. Building them up for a quarterback in 2027, or even to help evaluate Sanders in 2026, is a good approach but the class of 2026 is going to be too much to pass up on one.

Pittsburgh Steelers

  • 2026 First-Round Pick: Kadyn Proctor, OL, Alabama
  • 2027 First-Round Pick (Projected 8th Overall): Josh Hoover, QB, Indiana

Player Profile: Josh Hoover, QB, Indiana

This is a major projection, but I love Josh Hoover as a college quarterback right now. His going to Indiana is going to be the best thing for him as a player, and it will help the NFL get the best evaluation out of him they can. He has an explosive arm that can make throws to all levels of the field, he can make plays out of structure, and he can demonstrate touch as well. The Steelers need a long-term answer at quarterback at some point. Why not project Hoover?

NFC North

Chicago Bears

  • 2026 First-Round Pick: Caleb Banks, DL, Florida
  • 2027 First-Round Pick (Projected 17th Overall): Clev Lubin, Edge, Louisville

Player Profile: Caleb Banks, DL, Florida

Before another injury, Banks was on pace to be a top 10 pick after his dominance at the Senior Bowl. That, paired with missing most of the season in 2025, has him fall a bit, but going to the Bears is a perfect scenario for him. Dennis Allen will know how to use him for Chicago, and he will help the edge rushers make a strong presence while he creates chaos in the middle.

Detroit Lions

  • 2026 First-Round Pick: Vega Ioane, G, Penn State
  • 2027 First-Round Pick (Projected 24th Overall): A.J. Harris, CB, Indiana

Player Profile: A.J. Harris, CB, Indiana

Much like Josh Hoover, Harris is going to be put into the fire at Indiana, and I mean that in the best way possible. D'Angelo Ponds was able to showcase his physicality in 2025, and Harris could fit into that same role in 2026. The Lions like their physical defenders, and cornerbacks who can tackle, and that is the now former Penn State defender.

Green Bay Packers

  • No Picks

Player Profile: Micah Parsons

Enjoy having one of the best defenders in the NFL as a result of trading away your draft picks. Even on one knee, he is better than most in the NFL.

Minnesota Vikings

  • 2026 First-Round Pick: Emmanuel McNeil-Warren, S, Toledo
  • 2027 First-Round Pick (Projected 12th Overall): John Henry Daley, Edge, Michigan

Player Profile: John Henry Daley, Edge, Michigan

There were not many pass rushers in college football who were more effective in 2025 than John Henry Daley. He has racked up a whopping 29.5 sacks and tackles for a loss combined while boasting a pass rush win rate of 28.9%. He now heads to the Big Ten, where he will see more stiff competition after a college career in Utah, where he passed every test thrown his way.

AFC South

Houston Texans

  • 2026 First-Round Pick: Emmanuel Pregnon, iOL, Oregon
  • 2027 First-Round Pick (Projected 20th Overall): Trevor Goosby, OT, Texas

Player Profile: Trevor Goosby, OT, Texas

The Texans recently signed Braden Smith to play tackle opposite Aireontae Ersery. In the case of Ersery, if the team can make the upgrade to Goosby over him, it would be hard to pass up. Goosby could have declared this year and been a first-round pick, so his going back a year to refine things a bit more can only mean good things, as he projects to be a day-one starter once in the NFL.

Indianapolis Colts

  • No Picks

Player Profile: Sauce Gardner

Okay, maybe Gardner was hurt more than you would have liked, but when healthy, you have a top cornerback in the NFL for trading your picks away.

Jacksonville Jaguars

  • No 2026 First-Round Pick
  • 2027 First-Round Pick (Projected 18th Overall): A.J. Holmes Jr., DL, Texas Tech

Player Profile: A.J. Holmes, DL, Texas Tech

Holmes stepped up when the Red Raiders ' defense had been battered by injuries. In the time he played, the Texas Tech defense became a monstrous unit, and the play on the inside allowed their pass rushers to feast. Giving Holmes to the Haguars helps the newly extended Travon Walker and their run defense.

Tennessee Titans

  • 2026 First-Round Pick: Sonny Styles, LB, Ohio State
  • 2027 First-Round Pick (Projected 5th Overall): Colin Simmons, Edge, Texas

Player Profile: Colin Simmons, Edge, Texas

Giving Robert Saleh this duo may be the best work of any team in this unique mock draft. Giving him someone like Simmons specifically is diabolical, as he would arguably be the most talented pass rusher he has coached outside of Nick Bosa, but the Longhorn edge defender has that type of promise. Saleh will know how to use him, and playing alongside Jeffery Simmons will help them both avoid double teams as well, a win-win for everyone.

NFC South

Atlanta Falcons

  • No 2026 First-Round Pick
  • 2027 First-Round Pick (Projected 10th Overall): Leonard Moore, CB, Notre Dame

Player Profile: Leonard Moore, CB, Notre Dame

The Falcons will miss their first-round pick in 2026, but thankfully they have one in 2027. In this mock draft, they land one of the best players in the class that gets pushed down due to quarterback needs: Leonard Moore. The Notre Dame cornerback put up insane numbers in 2025 and has a career pass coverage grade of 89.5 from PFF.

Carolina Panthers

  • 2026 First-Round Pick: Kayden McDonald, DL, Ohio State
  • 2027 First-Round Pick (Projected 9th Overall): Dylan Stewart, Edge, South Carolina

Player Profile: Kayden McDonald, DL, Ohio State

McDonald is a simple plug-in here for the Panthers due to their defensive line needs. They addressed edge rusher in free agency, and now they need to stop the run in a division that has teams playing the likes of Bijan Robinson, Alvin Kamara, and Bucky Irving for nearly half their games.

New Orleans Saints

  • 2026 First-Round Pick: Mansoor Delane, CB, LSU
  • 2027 First-Round Pick (Projected 7th Overall): Ryan Williams, WR, Alabama

Player Profile: Ryan Williams, WR, Alabama

The Saints may have found something in Tyler Shough, but in order to get a definitive answer, they need to build around him. Getting him a receiver like Ryan Williams to play opposite Chris Olave is a spoilment of riches that any young quarterback would be lucky to have. Everyone knows how talented he has been since his true Freshman season so projecting him as a top ten pick is a no-brainer here.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

  • 2026 First-Round Pick: David Bailey, Edge, Texas Tech
  • 2027 First-Round Pick (Projected 14th Overall): Rasheem Biles, LB, Texas

Player Profile: David Bailey, Edge, Texas Tech

Someone has to fall in the NFL Draft, so why not David Bailey? A combination of team needs and other positions rising pushes him down the board to the Bucs. Bailey is the best pure pass rusher in this draft class and could even be in discussion for the second overall pick. However, if he starts to fall then the Bucs would be sprinting this selection in to hopefully solve their pass rusher drama after years of trying.

AFC East

Buffalo Bills

  • 2026 First-Round Pick: Keldric Faulk, Edge, Auburn
  • 2027 First-Round Pick (Projected 30th Overall): Whit Weeks, LB, LSU

Player Profile: Whit Weeks, LB, LSU

The Bills seem to be moving on from veteran leader Matt Milano. Their linebacking unit will need someone to step up, but if they do not, then it will be time for them to look on the outside for a long-term solution. Weeks returned to LSU this year but could have declared and added to the value of this linebacker group that it already boasts.

Miami Dolphins

  • 2026 First-Round Pick: Carnell Tate, WR, Ohio State
  • 2026 First-Round Pick (via DEN): Aveion Terrell, CB, Clemson
  • 2027 First-Round Pick (Projected 1st Overall): Arch Manning, QB, Texas

Player Profile: Carnell Tate, WR, Ohio State

The team has moved on from their top receivers, and they just gave Malik Willis a good amount of money. They need to put him in a position to succeed and give him Carnell Tate to get him on the right path. He can stretch the field, work the middle of it, or even make designed plays into big ones. All of it will help the Dolphins see what they have in Malik Willis.

New England Patriots

  • 2026 First-Round Pick: Christen Miller, DL, Georgia
  • 2027 First-Round Pick (Projected 23rd Overall): Ryan Wingo, WR, Texas

Player Profile: Ryan Wingo, WR, Texas

Drake Maye needs a bona fide WR1, and if they don't get that in the 2026 NFL Draft, 2027 is the group to get it out of. Ryan Wingo, out of Texas, can stretch the field and is one of the top targets of Arch Manning. Once they had a stronger connection, the offense really took off, and he can help Maye in the same way.

New York Jets

  • 2026 First-Round Pick: Arvell Reese, LB, Ohio State
  • 2026 First-Round Pick (via IND): Makai Lemon, WR, USC
  • 2027 First-Round Pick (Projected 2nd Overall): Dante Moore, QB, Oregon
  • 2027 First-Round Pick from IND (Projected 15th Overall): Zabien Brown, CB, Alabama
  • 2027 First-Round Pick from DAL (Projected 19th Overall): David Stone, DL, Oklahoma

Player Profile: Dante Moore, QB, Oregon

So many picks to choose from, but let's focus on Dante Moore and his inability to avoid the Jets. Moore is arguably going to be the op pick next. year's draft as he was already in that contention this year had he declared. He makes sound decisions, protects the ball, and is able to throw receivers open, which isn't done often in the college game.

NFC East

Dallas Cowboys

  • 2026 First-Round Pick: Jermod McCoy, CB, Tennessee
  • 2026 First-Round Pick (via GB): CJ Allen, LB, Georgia
  • 2027 First-Round Pick from GB (Projected 22nd Overall): Koi Perich, S, Oregon

Player Profile: Jermod McCoy, CB, Tennessee

Jermod McCoy acing his Pro Day is a good sign for his draft stock and the cornerback class as a whole. The Cowboys could use him on the outside, helping Daron Bland, as the Cowboys get back to having a dominant defense as they had in the past. He will be a risk, but McCoy is worth it for the upside he can bring.

New York Giants

  • 2026 First-Round Pick: Jeremiyah Love, RB, Notre Dame
  • 2027 First-Round Pick (Projected 11th Overall): Payton Pierce, LB, Ohio State

Player Profile: Jeremiyah Love, RB, Notre Dame

The Giants are entering a new era with a new quarterback and head coach, both of whom need a successful run game. No one better to help establish that than one of the more talented backs in recent years. Jeremiyah Love is a homerun threat and can also make plays out of the backfield.

Philadelphia Eagles

  • 2026 First-Round Pick: Akheem Mesidor, Edge, Miami (FL)
  • 2027 First-Round Pick (Projected 25th Overall): Jordan Seaton, OT, LSU

Player Profile: Jordan Seaton

Seaton could easily be a top 10 pick in the NFL Draft next year, or he could fall here to the Eagles at 25. His progress in the run game will decide if he goes that high or not, but if he falls to the Eagles, they will likely have him fixed up rather quickly.

Washington Commanders

  • 2026 First-Round Pick: Caleb Downs, S, Ohio State
  • 2027 First-Round Pick (Projected 13th Overall): Cam Coleman, WR, Texas

Player Profile: Cam Coleman, WR, Texas

The combination of Terry McLaurin and Cam Coleman for Jayden Daniels would be hilarious to watch unfold. Coleman is one of the more physically gifted wide receivers in the college landscape, and now that he is in a more dynamic offense in Texas, he can showcase that. Coleman reminds me a lot of Mike Evans, and yes, that is a compo that seems to be thrown around a lot, but he stretches the field and wins vertically with his size the same way he does.

AFC West

Denver Broncos

  • No 2026 First-Round Pick
  • 2027 First-Round Pick (Projected 21st Overall): Trey’Dez Green, TE, LSU

Player Profile: Trey'Dez Green, TE, LSU

Green is going to be an interesting study in college football as the LSU offense gets a facelift. The arrival of Lane Kiffin and his offense should have him involved more, and Sam Leavitt is likely to use him more in terms of targets. The pass-catching ability isn't up for debate, though, but securing the blocking will help his stock.

Kansas City Chiefs

  • 2026 First-Round Pick: Reuben Bain Jr, Edge, Miami (FL)
  • 2026 First-Round Pick (via LAR): Jordyn Tyson, WR, Arizona State
  • 2027 First-Round Pick (Projected 27th Overall): Jacarrius Peak, OT, South Carolina

Player Profile: Jordyn Tyson, WR, Arizona State

Tyson seems destined for a drop in the NFL Draft at the rate his process has been going. However, going to the Chiefs is a low-risk, massive reward for both parties. A duo of him and Rashee Rice, with a healthy Pat Mahomes, would allow their offense to return to the high-profile attack that led them to multiple Super Bowls.

Las Vegas Raiders

  • 2026 First-Round Pick: Fernando Mendoza, QB, Indiana
  • 2027 First-Round Pick (Projected 6th Overall): Jeremiah Smith, WR, Ohio State

Player Profile: Jeremiah Smith, WR, Ohio State

Fernando Mendoza is going to need a WR1 to work with Brock Bowers for the long-term. They won't find one in 2026, so they could fall into Smith in 2027. A young offensive corps of Bowers, Smith, and Ashton Jeanty to help Mendoza would allow them to all reach their peak potential together, while also being fun to play with the Raiders in Madden, perhaps for the first time since Bill Clinton was in office.

Los Angeles Chargers

  • 2026 First-Round Pick: Peter Woods, DL, Clemson
  • 2027 First-Round Pick (Projected 28th Overall): Jamari Sharpe, CB, Indiana

Player Profile: Peter Woods, DL, Clemson

Woods being in the middle of the Chargers' defense would be a fun sight to behold. Jim Harbaugh needs the Chargers defense to not miss a beat in 2026, despite the departure of Jesse Minter. Woods is going to fall in the draft after being a top 10 projected pick, but falling to the Chargers is the best-case scenario for him.

NFC West

Arizona Cardinals

  • 2026 First-Round Pick: Francis Mauigoa, OT, Miami (FL)
  • 2027 First-Round Pick (Projected 3rd Overall): CJ Carr, QB, Notre Dame

Player Profile: C.J. Carr, QB, Notre Dame

Carr is a big-time projection here as he has just one year of starting under his belt, but he has shown enough to make it work. I like his decision-making, ability to read defenses, and the physical tools all allow him to be a top pick in next year's draft.

Los Angeles Rams

  • 2026 First-Round Pick: Spencer Fano, OT, Utah
  • 2027 First-Round Pick (Projected 32nd Overall): Jayden Maiava, QB, USC

Player Profile: Spencer Fano, OT, Utah

The retirement of Rob Havenstein leaves an opening in the protection of reigning MVP Matthew Stafford. Spencer Fano would be a perfect pick to replace him. He could plug in right away and start for them as they continue to enjoy the Super Bowl window they have wide open as long as Stafford is under center.

San Francisco 49ers

  • 2026 First-Round Pick: Blake Miller, OT, Clemson
  • 2027 First-Round Pick (Projected 26th Overall): Nick Marsh, WR, Indiana

Player Profile: Nick Marsh, WR, Indiana

Nick Marsh comes to Indiana with high expectations and the thought that he can expand his game in their offense. With the departure of Elijah Surratt and Omar Cooper Jr., he is going to see 134 targets open up with an explosive quarterback passing to him. Marsh should be the center of the offense and give the 49ers a big option on the outside that they are missing, even with the arrival of Mike Evans.

Seattle Seahawks

  • 2026 First-Round Pick: Colton Hood, CB, Tennessee
  • 2027 First-Round Pick (Projected 31st Overall): Jadan Baugh, RB, Florida

Player Profile: Jadan Baugh, RB, Florida

Jadan Baugh is the first 1,000-yard rusher to achieve that in back-to-back seasons for the Gators since Emmitt Smith. Baugh has high expectations heading into his third year, and he should find himself in the first round as a result. Now, as fore the fit here, Baugh is replacing the role left behind by Kenneth Walker Jr. if they decide Zach Charbonnet is not the answer. He would be an ideal replacement as he is a similar player to Walker and the Seahawks need that runner in their offense.
