The Baltimore Orioles are beginning to see some progress on Jordan Westburg's injury, offering a bit of optimism 10 games into the 2026 season.

Westburg, one of Baltimore’s most important infielders, has been sidelined since spring training after suffering a partial UCL tear in his right throwing elbow.
The injury immediately ruled him out for Opening Day and the rest of camp, and the team ultimately moved him to the 60-day injured list this past Wednesday, ruling him out until at least May. However, Westburg is still doing what he can to rehab and return to the 26-man roster. The latest update on his status is especially promising despite still not having a return timeline.

That update marks a meaningful step forward in Westburg’s recovery. He has been undergoing conservative treatment, including a PRP injection, with the hope of avoiding surgery altogether.
Beginning a throwing progression suggests that his right elbow is responding well and that he is gradually working his way back toward game action.
While there is still no clear timetable for his return, the Orioles remain optimistic he could be back at some point in the first half of the season. Given the severity of the injury, simply trending in the right direction is an encouraging sign.
Still, durability continues to be a concern. If Westburg does return in 2026, it will be his fourth MLB season, yet he has only surpassed 100 games played once. Injuries have repeatedly limited his availability, including multiple setbacks in 2025 such as a left hamstring strain and a right ankle sprain that held him to just 85 games.
When he is on the field, however, his impact is undeniable. Westburg’s best season came in 2024 when he earned an All-Star selection while posting a .264 batting average, .312 on-base percentage and .792 OPS with 18 home runs and 63 RBIs across 107 games. He followed that up with another strong performance in 2025, further establishing himself as a key piece of Baltimore’s lineup.
Since being selected in the first round of the 2020 MLB Draft, Westburg has developed into a foundational player for the Orioles, rising through the system and becoming one of their most reliable contributors when healthy.
