She has earned three Olympic bronze medals in her five Olympic Games. The Finns took third in the 2010 Vancouver Games, 2018 PyeongChang Games and the 2022 Beijing Games.

Karvinen was named the best forward at the 2014 Sochi Games, where she led the tournament in goals (five) and points (seven).

Karvinen currently plays for Vancouver in the PWHL. Her head coach is Brian Idalski, who coached her at UND.

Three former UND players competed for Finland at the 2026 Winter Games. Susanna Tapani and Emma Nuutinen were also on the Finnish team.
